What’s It Worth?

"What's it Worth?"
Recorded at Rax Trax Studio, Chicago
Engineered by Andy Pollina

Today is Saturday June 21st 2003 and I’m gonna tell ya what I remember about this session: All I remember about this studio session is taking a hit of acid while I was there, taking many bong hits, taking ephedrine that the studio workers were providing me, drinking few beers, many Mt. Dews, and a lot of water. We did most of the songs live in one big room. We had these movable padded walls that we covered Rob up with and put my bass rig into this lil sound proof singing room. Bossmans amp was in the room so we could all hear that pretty loud. I had a few basses to use that night but ended up using just the Ball on every song. On the song The Limitation, there is a vocal pick up part where I say a line and then we all jump in at a certain part, so I ran up to the mic and actually sang the whole ending part after that live. We went back later and did the beginning part where I just sang it and held the mic and got crazy in the big room and got to act like a front man. It was fun. Charles Skrunch showed up a lil after midnight and Bossman and I ran and eagerly answered the door when he rang the bell. Both of us had no shirts on and must have looked like fuckin lunatics. My pupils were probably so fucking dilated and we were laughing hysterically. He set up his camera equiptment and we gave him a tour of the studios and the big chill room. We introduced all the other guys that were there working. It was a lot of fun. He recorded us playing a few songs live and then recorded us mixing our songs and he interviewed us. But before we played the songs for him, he gave us a lil pep talk and told us to get real crazy and work to the camera. We had no problem doing that. I’m not too sure of what songs we even played. I think Grudge must have been one. And Think About It, maybe….I don’t know. So at one point, it was like 3:30 in the morning and I think I was dozing off a bit on the couch and Bossman wakes me up and is yelling “Where r the rest of the vocals to the Limitation?” I guess we forgot to record them. So I was all wasted and out of it. We had taked down all the equiptment and ended up recording them out of a bass amp I think. I didn’t even care at that point. Bossman and I left at like 5 in the morning. The sun was out and we were so fucking tired and out of it we were laughing hysterically at nothing. Andy stayed till like 10 in the morning to finish mixing the songs. This session was a lot of fun. I was ruined from it. We learned to write down all the tracks and make sure u have everything. We got a lil sloppy doing this. But it was cool recording straight to computer. We’d still tell Andy to say something professional-like to help us start the songs like “Okay, rolling” or “And….we’re rolling” and point to us or something.
